Extended deadline
The Association of Dutch Art Historians (Vereniging van Nederlandse Kunsthistorici, VNK) seeks candidates for the Jan van Gelder Award (Jan van Gelderprijs) for 2024. This award is presented bi-annually by the VNK for an important publication in the fields of visual arts, architecture, and applied arts. With the Jan van Gelder Award the VNK aims to encourage young and promising Dutch art historians. The laureate receives €1000, a trophy, and a one-year membership to the VNK. The award ceremony will take place at the Art History Day (Kunsthistorische Dag) this fall. The author of the publication must be no older than 35 years at the time of its release and can only receive the award once. Since the Jan van Gelder Award is presented bi-annually, publications from the two years preceding the judging are eligible. The publication must meet “generally accepted scientific standards and demonstrate originality.” The jury is seeking candidates for the 2024 Jan van Gelder Award, thus publications from 2022 and 2023 are eligible.
