OSK Activity: Scholars in Dialogue
Do you want to earn extra ECTS and have the chance to dialogue with scholars and museum professionals? The OSK will sponsor activities for RMa students and PhDs who want to get involved and organize events for our OSK Community.
Scholars in Dialogue (1EC)
In the new OSK series Scholars in Dialogue RMa students and PhDs organize interviews with professionals or academics who have been an inspiration in their studies or research. Who are the most interesting scholars working in your field? Whose scholarship has provided you with interesting concepts or methods? Whose exhibition, museum presentation, book or article changed your thinking about your own work? This is your chance to have a one-on-one dialogue with your favorite curator or art historian within the framework of an OSK Scholars in Dialogue session, organized by you for ECTS and held online for the OSK community and your peers.
In preparation you are expected to 1) approach and invite a museum curator or scholar (in the Netherlands or abroad) with whom you would like to “dialogue”; 4) organize the session (pick a date, advertise for it, invite your peers, etc.); develop a series of pointed interview questions designed to address your interlocutor’s research, methodology, theoretical approach, their outcomes and their significance for the field.
During the session you would be expected to 1) introduce your dialogue partner; 2) address your questions in a serious and professional manner; 3) respond to her/him and to the audience; 4) lead the discussion with your interlocuter and (eventually) your peers.
A short report on the outcome of the session rounds up the project.
